In English with Polish translation

Victor Kossakovsky is a famous Russian director who is often completely self-sufficient, acting as writer, director, cinematographer and editor on many of his films. He was born in 1961, in Leningrad. In 1978, he enrolled at the Leningrad Documentary Film Studio. His documentary debut „Belvy” (1993) is one of the most recognized and awarded Russian films of the 1990s (VPRO Joris Ivens Award, the IDFA Audience Award, and many others). Kossakovsky’s latest film, „¡Vivan las Antipodas!”, opened last year’s Venice International Film Festival. During the 9th PLANETE+ DOC FILM FESTIVAL, it will be vying for the Millennium Award in the main competition, as well as for the Canon Cinematography Award. The film takes the audience on an exceptional trip around the world to four sets of places located precisely on opposite sides of the globe (i.e. antipodes). It was shot in eight locations: Argentina, Botswana, Chile, China, Hawaii, New Zealand, Russia, and Spain.
„¡Vivan las Antipodas!” was nominated for the European Film Award 2011. In March 2012, the film received the True Vision Award at the True/False Festival in the United States.

During his master class, Victor Kossakovsky will talk about his unique documentary vision, his work methods, and the set of rules he has created for filmmakers taking their first steps in the world of documentary filmmaking. The master class will be moderated by the cinematographer Szymon Lenkowski.
