Synopsis

The camera accompanies Anna Grodzka, transsexual and a president of fund Transfucaj, in one of the most important moments of her life – legal sex change.

Anna Grodzka was born in the male body and for many years tried to live as it was expected. A man whom she was till 2009 got married, became a father but could not fully enjoy his life though. As an adult person, father of an adult son, he decided to undergo a long term process of sex change. The crew accompanies Anna in crucial moments of this way to womanhood – at the courtroom, in plastic surgery clinic in Bangkok, where she undergoes an operation, but as well in common, everyday life moments, when she talks to son, does shopping, goes to beauty parlour, works in her fund. Anna is surrounded by people who support her through the tough process of change.

Documentary produced by HBO Central Europe was directed by Sławomir Grünberg, producer, director and documentaries cinematographer, alumni of The Polish National Film, Television and Theater School in Łódź. In 80’s he emigrated to United States. He made over 40 documentaries among which there are: Borderline. People versus Eunice Baker or Fenceline: A Company Town Divided. Grünberg won prestigious awards on film festivals in San Francisco and Vermont. For School Prayer: A Community at War he received an Emmy award. Music to Trans-Action was composed by Philip Glass, nominated to Oscar for composition to Kundun – life of Dalai Lama. The second director and editor of the film is Katka Reszke.
