The origins of the religious conflict that flares up intermittently between Christians and Muslims can be traced back 1,400 years, but filmmaker Stephen Marshall never suspected that feelings would run so high in his lifetime. At the start of the "war on terror," Marshall decided to follow a fanatical Christian and a radical Muslim, in hopes of gaining some insight into their worldview. For three years, he tags along with the two men, who are more than happy to vent their ideas on camera. The Christian is Aaron Taylor, who hails from the Missouri Bible Belt and wants to propagate his faith all over the world - including in the Islamic countries that he visits, despite the obvious dangers. The Muslim is Khalid Kelly, an Irish-born nurse from London, who converted to Islam and has been fighting for the rights of his brothers ever since. Marshall questions them about their ideas and follows them with a handheld camera around England, the United States, Lebanon and Pakistan. We see not only the blinkered, unquestioning fanatic, but also the individual behind the believer. Is there any chance, then, of an openhearted face-to-face conversation between two human beings? We hear Marshall discussing his own motives, making connections and informing us of his emotional and sometimes shocking experiences.
